Fully agree. As a therapist, while treating “non-western” patients coming from collective life traditions,I learnt what a super power faith represents. Thank you for this very important article

From the Quran Surah Al-Imran 3: 173

Those to whom hypocrites said, ‘Indeed, the people have gathered against you, so fear them.’ But it [merely] increased them in faith, and they said, ‘Sufficient for us is Allah, and [He is] the best Disposer of affairs.’

As Muslims, we find great solace in the phrase Hasbunallahu wa ni'mal wakeel (حَسْبُنَا اللَّهُ وَنِعْمَ الْوَكِيلُ) -- "Sufficient for us is Allah, and [He is] the best Disposer of affairs".

Thank you for teaching we in the West a most important lesson. So much could be accomplished if we understood how to work with the problem rather than trying to get past or avoid the real experiences of life.

Reading your piece, Palestinian faith reminded me of the Book of Job.

I wish I could experience this depth of faith. Thank you for explaining it. This gives me much to think about in my own life....

An excellent analysis of how faith strengthens the mindset and allows Palestinians in Gaza to cope with daily living despite the horrors faced
