His new book Counterrevolution in Egypt: Sisi's New Republic, published by Verso this year, is a comprehensive account of how Egypt's military, police and intelligence services forged an unprecedented alliance against the Egyptian people's revolutionary aspirations, and built the system that governs Egypt today.
