Tory Party Conference Special: Should Conservatives support the Palestinian Cause?

4 Oct
Crispin Blunt

We’re live with the Former Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Select Committee & Chairman of the Conservative Middle East Council, Rt. Hon. Crispin Blunt MP.

Blunt is the Member of Parliament for Reigate in Surrey and also a director of the UK-based International Centre of Justice for Palestinians, an independent organisation of lawyers, politicians and academics who support the rights of Palestinians and aim to protect their rights through the law.He is also a former Army Officer, commissioned into the 13th/18th Royal Hussars (Queen Mary’s Own) and serving until 1990 when he resigned in order to stand for Parliament.

Blunt has previously described the UK government’s proposed “Anti-BSD Bill” as “a full-scale assault on our own values” and also written the so-called Oslo “Peace-Process” has proved to be merely an “ugly mirage”.

Blunt has been vocal in calling for the UK to take a new approach to the Question of Palestine - an approach which advances from mere statements of “concern” to one which genuinely centres international law and human rights.
