Investigative journalist Matt Kennard revealed on Monday in an exclusive article published on Palestine Deep Dive that Gaza spy flights from UK base RAF Akrotiri on Cyprus have secretly shifted to a plane leased by a company with billions in US military contracts.
A spy plane leased from a company that works closely with the US military is now flying daily intelligence-gathering flights over Gaza from British territory on Cyprus, Deep Dive can reveal.
While the RAF surveillance missions were registered as landing and taking off on commercial flight tracking websites, the new US plane is on the blocked list, meaning this information is not publicly available.
But on 28 July, Deep Dive tracked the new US plane flying for three hours over Khan Younis. The following day, Israeli airstrikes with civilian casualties were reported in the same area.
In a new and important article The Times today has confirmed Deep Dive’s scoop about the new US-leased plane flying spy missions over Gaza for Israel.
UK Ministry of Defence (MoD) sources told The Times that the government is paying a US company to undertake the spy flights. The flights are now flown by contractors, not UK military pilots, but the MoD would not disclose the length or cost of the contract.
A government source told The Times there would be “several hard drives” of intelligence gathered by British spy planes over Gaza.
These flights are presented as “hostage rescue” spy flights, but there are no hostages remaining in Gaza with British citizenship.
So after almost two years of Israel’s onslaught which has annihilated Gaza, what is the intelligence being used for?
