If you have been following the Palestine Deep Dive weekly chat show, you may recognise Gaza-based Palestinian writer Huda Skaik from the video messages she regularly sends to our guests.
Huda is a long-standing writer and contributor to Palestine Deep Dive, whose writing has also been published in outlets including Al Jazeera, The Intercept, Drop Site News, Middle East Eye and many more. She has secured an unconditional offer to take up a journalism degree at the University of London, entering directly into her second year.
In order to be for Huda to meet the financial requirements of the UK Visa Immigration process, she needs to secure a total of $116,000 by Wednesday 23 September. She has already secured most of the sum and we need your help to secure the rest so that Huda may be able to evacuate Gaza to safety and continue her studies.
“For the past three years, I have continued my education and work as a journalist despite living through genocide, displacement, and the destruction of the life around me. I have written extensively about Gaza and the experiences of Palestinians living through unimaginable circumstances. My journalism has been published by international outlets including Al Jazeera, Middle East Eye, The Intercept, The Nation, The New Arab, Electronic Intifada, Drop Site News and We Are Not Numbers. I have also produced video journalism from Gaza.
My university has recognized both my academic record and my exceptional circumstances. I need financial help to make it possible for me to leave Gaza and begin my studies.
My passport is ready. The opportunity to study is there. Funding is now the main barrier standing between me and evacuation and enrollment.”
