Just a week after the UK government announced a suspension of new trade talks with Israel over its ongoing onslaught in Gaza, former Labour MP and UK Trade Envoy to Israel Ian Austin visited Tel Aviv this Monday to “promote trade” between the two countries.
The UK’s embassy in Israel announced the trip on X on Monday, posting a picture of Ian Austin in Haifa. Austin shared the Tweet with his own caption which read:
“Greetings from Israel! I’m here to meet businesses & officials to promote trade with the UK. Trade with Israel provides many thousands of good jobs in the UK and brings people together in the great multi-cultural democracy that is Israel.”
This visit comes just a day after Israel bombed a school in Gaza, killing 36 Palestinians, half of them children.
And two days after Israel bombed the home of Palestinian Doctor Alaa al-Najjar, killing nine of her children.
On average Israel is killing around 100 Palestinians a day in its ongoing genocide and continues to starve the entire population.
