Yvette Cooper, Home Secretary who is a member of Labour Friends of Israel, will soon submit a draft proscription order to parliament. If the law passes, Palestine Action will become a designated terrorist group, which means that being a member of it, or even voicing support for it, will carry a prison sentence of up to 14 years.
This is the first time the UK government has moved to criminalise an activist group using the Terrorism Act of 2000, having huge implications for protest and free speech in Britain for generations to come.
