What’s the Meaning of Theatre in the Time of Genocide? | Emile Saba & Yasmin Shalaldeh

On this episode of Palestine Deep Dive, Ahmed Alnaouq and Hala Hanin speak to two Palestinian theatre makers about making art under occupation and amidst the destruction of Gaza.

Emile Saba, Artistic Director of ASHTAR Theatre in Ramallah, has worked on productions including Guernica: Gaza. His latest play, 2077 WHO WANTS TO SURVIVE, is being performed in London as part of the PalArt Festival this weekend.

Yasmin Shalaldeh, an actor, creative producer and educator from Jerusalem, has performed with the Palestinian National Theatre, The Freedom Theatre, Al Kasaba and ASHTAR. She is also the founder of Nuwa, a new home for independent artists in Palestine. She joins us from London, where she is performing in El-Manshiyyeh with El-Hakawati at the PalArt Festival.
